Much of my time in Italy was spent learning about unfamiliar history, architecture, sights, sounds, smells, and views. However, the birds remained the same.
In each city I went out of my way to capture common city-birds on camera. Pigeons may be a "garbage bird", but to a tourist, they are familiar, as ever present on the streets of Rome as the Canals of Venice, or downtown Ottawa.
This collection of photographs present the common, and oft-overlooked avian city dwellers going about their day, sunning on ancient architecture, soaring above ruins, or perched atop an ancient column.
